Hilo Bay 5K/10K Results and Upcoming East Side Events

This past Sunday, the east side of the Big Island also had a great running event - the Big Island Road Runners' Hilo Bay 5k and 10k.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it over for this run, but the Big Island Road Runners sent us some photos and the results.  More photos are available here.

Congratulations to all participants and to Big Island Road Runners for putting on another great event!

In addition to the Queen K Tri Club's Run/Bike/Run event on the Kona side of the island this weekend, there are a couple of great races on the Hilo side as well. On Saturday, Sept. 17, Waiakea High School is hosting a Cross Country 3 mile fundraising run at Waiakea High School at 8am.  Then on Sunday, Sept. 18, the Peace Committee is hosting the 1st Annual Run for Peace in Honoka'a.  This 5k starts at 10:45 a.m. at the Football Field at Honoka'a High School and runs the parade route in advance of the 5th Annual Parade & Festival for the United Nations International Day of Peace.  For more information on this race, contact Jim Atkins at steelsprings@yahoo.com.
