A Few of Our Favorite Things

In preparation for the Hilo Marathon, we thought we’d share a list of some of our current favorite running items, all of which are available every day at our Kona store and will be available at the Hilo Marathon Expo, at the Hilo Hawaiian, March 20th, noon – 6 p.m.

1. CEP Compression Socks – Great for wearing around the house after a hard workout or long run, or great for racing.

“The times are over where the sole purpose of socks and stockings was to protect feet from blistering. CEP is setting new standards by coming out with the first functional sport sock with a patented pressure flow that provides a scientifically proved increase in blood circulation and a consequent increase in performance.”

2. The Stick – Weekly massage is expensive, wonderful, but expensive. The Stick allows a way to “roll out” sore or tight muscles yourself. Great for use on the calves, hamstrings, quads or lower back.

“The Stick is a revolutionary device used to segmentally compress and stretch muscle. It is highly effective in the treatment of muscle pain and trigger points.”

3. Fuel Belt – The Big Island is hot and humid, that means hydration is paramount. Fuel Belt offers a great solution to fluid replacement on the run with the Helium 2 and 4.

“As the number one hydration belt in the world, Helium has been put to the test at some of the toughest endurance events around. Craig Alexander placed first overall at the 2008 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii with his Helium 2-Bottle Belt. In fact, four out of the top five men used Helium, which says a lot about how the design performs under extreme conditions. You won’t find a more proven hydration belt than Helium. • Control-stretch waistband with wider Velcro closure means a secure and custom fit• Fresh new colors inspired by FuelBelt athletes’ winning experiences at the Ironman World Championship• 8oz bottles are ergonomic, leakproof, dishwasher safe and made of recyclable BPA-free LDPE (No.4) plastic • Breathable therma-foam keeps you cool when things heat up • Each Helium belt comes with a removable race pocket, perfect for salt tabs, gels, keys or cash”

4. Nike Lunarglide & Lunaracer – Flywire makes them lightweight and Dynamic Support makes them custom fit for almost anyone. The Lunarglide makes for a great lightweight trainer and the Lunaracer is a supportive, fast racing flat, perfect for races or intervals.

“The DYNAMIC SUPPORT system in the shoe's midsole responds to a runner's changing needs, constantly adapting to your stride to deliver just the right amount of comfort and support. LunarLite cushioning provides excellent shock absorption and responsiveness for a bouncy ride. And a wedge of firm foam on the back side of the midsole offers pronation support for those who need it.”
