You snooze, you lose

I just got word from the race director of the Big Island International Marathon in Hilo that the 2010 marathon and half-marathon are completely full and no more entries will be accepted. to quote the race director: "NO EXCEPTIONS!" (And, yes, he put it in all caps, so fugetaboutit.) For those of you who registered in time, you've got a great race to look forward to. For those of you who were sitting on the fence and missed out, start thinking about 2011. The following press release is from the race director:

Big Island Marathon Not Accepting Further Applications
The Big Island International Marathon, scheduled for March 21, will no longer be accepting additional participants into the full (26.2-mile) and half (13.1-miles) marathons.
Race officials have announced that both the marathon and half-marathon have reached their maximum number. Applications, along with race fees, postmarked after Feb. 27, will be returned.
BIIM will continue to accept entries into their 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk as no maximum was set for this distance. Cost for the 5K is $30.
